Employment Counsel The candidate will provide advice and counsel to HR on all aspects of day-to-day employment-related matters, including hiring and termination issues, harassment, discrimination and retaliation, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, pay equity, wage and hour issues, conflicts of interest, independent contractor issues, statutory employee issues, employee investigations, performance management. Review reductions in force and reorganizations, with sensitivity to minimizing legal risks and identifying potential liabilities. Advise on compensation issues, including FLSA classifications and compensation plans. Draft, review, and implement employment-related policies and procedures with a focus on compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Create and update employment-related contract templates. Counsel HR on background check issues, including client requirements for testing our employees. Advise on vendor/client agreements with employment components, employee benefits issues, employee/independent contractor classification issues, and noncompetition agreements and related litigation. Conduct HR training on various employment issues. Keep updated on legislative changes and advise on necessary policy or process changes. Respond to lawyer's letters and negotiate severance agreements. Supervise, manage and evaluate outside counsel on employment-related matters including litigation. Assist in company acquisition/divestiture efforts as needed in areas of subject matter expertise.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate with 7+ years of employment law experience. Excellent written/verbal communication skills required. The ability to positively influence the behavior of multiple stakeholders, as well as to successfully balance the interests of the customer with maintaining a good legal and fiscal position for the company is required. Must have the ability to think strategically and creatively, to identify and resolve legal issues, possess knowledge of the business. Must be able to work well as a team member and build rapport and trust with both internal and external stakeholders, and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Must possess a high level of integrity and professionalism, highly developed organizational skills, and be articulate, detail-oriented, and hard-working.
