Litigation Counsel Duties: Manage multiple litigation and claims for all divisions of the company, which will involve a wide variety of matters in multiple jurisdictions.. Proactively identify, analyze and mitigate legal risks. Take a hands-on approach to all facets of litigation, including responding to subpoenas and discovery requests, fact-finding and analysis, reviewing, drafting and revising legal filings and other litigation-related documents, interviewing witnesses, preparing witnesses for testimony, and negotiating and drafting settlement documents. Respond to demands for indemnification and other demands. Assist with budgeting and forecasting number for litigation related matters. Assist with quarterly litigation reporting to Finance and Accounting teams, management and external auditors. Develop an early case assessment for each matter, prepare and update case evaluations that discuss the facts, claims and strategy to defend and resolve each matter. Set strategy for, manage, and provide advice to senior leadership and the business on litigation and investigations. Lead and manage the activities of outside counsel and coordinate internal efforts to meet litigation and investigations requirements. Interact daily with outside counsel and develop and enforce strategies and budgets for each matter with outside counsel that most effectively and efficiently meet the goals set for each matter. Prepare requests for settlement authority and communicate to management regarding case strategy. Coordinate and prepare responses to discovery, identify key witnesses and manage the discovery process. Implement litigation initiatives and track metrics. Drive change and execute on any lessons learned and best practices. Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school. 3+ years of relevant, broad-based legal experience gained in an in-housel legal department or leading law firm. Experience with prioritizing and handling numerous competing demands in a high volume and fast pace environment. Ability to independently move projects forward by gaining support needed from stakeholders across the company and working in a cross-functional role. Highly proficient in Google applications (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Notes), Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio), Adobe Acrobat and Smartsheet as well as the ability to learn and use proprietary computer systems and databases. Be highly detail-oriented, organized, proactive, efficient and resourceful with exceptional follow-through skills. Have exceptional analytical, research and problem-solving skills. Be able to simultaneously manage workloads, multiple client demands, and competing and shifting priorities within a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment while meeting deadlines and delivering results. Exhibit a high degree of professionalism and trustworthiness and a demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential information. Have impeccable professional ethics, integrity and judgment. Be extremely bright but also have an EQ that matches your IQ. Have a genuine interest and ability to connect and engage with all levels of employees and management, including senior management, effectively and in a manner that builds, maintains and enhances trust and a positive working relationship. Have excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Be able to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive, can do attitude to the workplace and works collaboratively with other members of the Legal Department and organization. Have a strong desire to function integrally as part of an interdisciplinary team. Be collegial, hard-working, confident, a self-starter and have a passion for results.
