Privacy Attorney Duties: Serve as the specialist and provide legal advice on data privacy, cloud and banking secrecy/client confidentiality laws in the Americas - with a particular focus on Latin America. Monitor new banking secrecy and privacy laws in the Americas and provide legal mentorship on new laws as they arise. Collaborate with and provide mentorship to local legal counsel, the Americas Data Protection Office, and Compliance, on legal matters involving compliance with new Americas privacy laws and regulations. Participate in cross-functional working groups for data privacy projects. Review and arrange data privacy/client confidentiality contract provisions when requested. Collaborate and work efficiently with members of the Americas and Global Legal Data Protection & Sourcing teams. Qualifications: JD Degree and a state Bar license in the United States is required. Having a NY or NC state bar license is preferred. Equivalent experience of 5+ years in private practice and/or in-house (preferably in a regulated industry) with proven experience advising on privacy laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions in including advising on GDPR. Data privacy advisory experience regarding laws in LATAM such as Argentina, Bahamas, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru is preferred. Prior banking secrecy law advisory experience is a plus. Proven ability and to draft, analyze and advise in a proactive and effective manner in relation to complex data protection. And banking secrecy projects and arrangements across different client and functional groups. Also at various levels within the bank whilst at the same time applying high ethical and control standards. Ability to work in a team environment with General Counsel Team members located in multiple locations and time zones including Brazil, the United States, Switzerland and Poland. Ability to work in a fast-paced and continually evolving legal and regulatory environment. Along with ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently, effectively prioritizing in real time, to ensure maximum efficiency and value to the bank. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels. And to gain trust and build up positive relationships in workplace in a short time-frame. Spanish or Portuguese language proficiency is an asset. Understands the value of diversity in the workplace and is dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture in all aspects of working life so that people from all backgrounds receive equal treatment, realize their full potential and can bring their full, authentic selves to work.
