Chief Litigation Counsel The candidate will have overall responsibility for litigation, disputes, and investigations involving the Company, including leading a global team of legal professionals. Develop strategy and tactics for complex, high-profile litigation, disputes and investigations, Lead and develop a global, internal team of legal professionals and drive functional excellence, Select and manage outside counsel, consultants, and support staff, Work with the General Counsel and Division General Counsels to advise business leaders and the Board of Directors relating to litigation, settlement, and investigations, Oversee preparation for high-stakes litigation, including determination of negotiation and settlement strategy, Structure innovative partnerships with outside counsel to promote incentives for cost savings and quality improvement, Implement new and effective cost-containment measures in areas such as e-discovery, litigation holds, and alternative dispute resolution processes to control legal spend on litigation matters and disputes, Initiate proactive strategies to prevent litigation, including developing and delivering guidelines and training programs regarding document writing and retention, discovery, litigation holds, legal privilege, and other key areas J.D. from an accredited law school and member in good standing with at least one State Bar, Minimum of 12 years of litigation experience, delivering legal services to or within a complex organizational structure gained from high-caliber private practice or corporate law department roles, and preferably, from a combination of both, Experience leading and developing a team of legal professionals, as well as engaging and overseeing the work of outside counsel, Successful track record of advising business leaders, Boards, and functional teams, Demonstrated experience developing and implementing innovative litigation-related systems, processes, and cost-savings measures, Successful track record of litigating civil cases and managing a broad range of litigation matters, including government investigations, preferably in a global setting, Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally. Extensive environmental toxic tort, products liability, and intellectual property litigation experience are required.
