Employment Counsel The candidate will provides advice and counsel to Human Resources professionals and business leaders on employment and labor law compliance, legal risk and human resources practices. This position reports to the Deputy General Counsel responsible for employment law and litigation. Employment Law Counseling and Advice;. Work collaboratively with HR professionals to develop solutions to complex human resources issues that appropriately balance compliance concerns and business needs.vProvide employment law advice and counseling on a range of human resources issues such as workplace investigations, leaves of absence and accommodation of disabilities, performance management and discipline, terminations, wage and hour, hiring and recruitment, and workforce restructuring. Assess and audit compliance requirements and legal risk under federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and advise HR of new developments and requirements. Proactively monitor legal developments, industry and regulatory trends and topics, and legislative initiatives in the labor and employment law space. Develop and periodically update HR policies. Manage and resolve employment disputes through negotiation and other mechanisms. Represent the company before administrative agencies. Manage outside counsel in employment litigation. 4 to 7 years minimum experience in broad management-side employment law practice (in-house or law firm) including Title VII, ADEA, ADA, OWBPA, GINA, FLSA, FMLA, OFCCP, WARN and other federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Combination of law firm and in-house corporate experience is a big plus. Excellent analytical ability and professional judgment with a practical focus. Excellent human resources problem solving skills; experience balancing business needs and potential compliance risks; skill at developing practical creative solutions that advance important business objectives while minimizing potential legal risks. Judgment, objectivity, professionalism and integrity necessary for addressing sensitive, confidential, complex personnel issues. Ability to influence senior executives, business leaders and HR professionals. Ability to collaborate with HR professionals and business leaders to drive results on a broad range of projects and initiatives. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
