Senior Healthcare Privacy Counsel Duties: Join privacy and data protection team. Report to the lead privacy and data protection counsel. Work as the subject matter expert on all aspects of US healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, state laws, and trends. Work as the point healthcare compliance resource. Lead healthcare privacy efforts in support of product and service development, functional and partner needs, global healthcare privacy practices, and healthcare compliance accountability. Advise on all aspects of US healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH, state laws, and trends. Guide product development teams for new products and services from concept to operation. Work closely with international privacy counsel to develop global healthcare privacy approaches. Develop and deliver training. Update playbook for and advise on BAAs and other agreements involving health data. Support data subject requests or queries relating to Intuitive's privacy and data protection practices. Develop contacts and participate in professional organizations that enhance the understanding of HIPAA developments.

Qualifications: Should have a J.D. degree and a member of the California bar. Relevant certifications, technical background, and language skills are a plus. Should have 12+ years of privacy experience with US healthcare privacy laws, particularly HIPAA. Should have extensive experience advising on product and application development, assessing and advising on real-world privacy situations, and supporting strategic decisions as to the healthcare privacy SME. Must have extensive experience in the practical application of healthcare privacy knowledge to real-world situations, preferably in a commercial/medical device setting. Project management and compliance experience preferred. Working knowledge of technology business models and familiarity with operational security issues preferred. Must have strong analytical and problem-resolution skills with the ability to balance business needs with legal risks; excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate legal advice, solicit input, and gather information verbally and in writing; a demonstrated cross-functional communication and working with teams at various levels of an organization; excellent interpersonal skills, preferably with experience working with international clientele; the ability to calibrate and advise on risk in connection with transactions and products and to work autonomously and prioritize multiple matters simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment, while seeking supervision and guidance when necessary. Must be technology-oriented with a preference for experience in medical devices and/or product design.
