Counsel, Privacy And Compliance

Counsel, Privacy and Compliance Duties: Review business activities that collect, use, disclose, or dispose of data for compliance with law, policy, and best practices. Draft consumer notices, inter-company agreements and contract terms. Negotiate data-related contract provisions. Develop and implement standardized policies, tools, and processes to improve and enhance privacy and compliance practices. Collaborate closely with team on cybersecurity issues. Support insurance claims management on cybersecurity issues. Develop and maintain expertise in global laws regarding data privacy and protection. Develop and deliver training on data privacy issues across business.

Qualifications: Law degree from a reputable law school in the United States. Must be licensed to practice law in Michigan and a member of the Michigan State Bar in good standing. 3-5 years of related experience, ideally in a combination of well-regarded law firm and corporate settings. Solid experience independently drafting, negotiating and interpreting commercial contracts. Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to liaise with all areas of the business. Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond promptly to shifting priorities. Nice to Have: Global experience. Foreign language skills.
