Counsel, Labor And Employment Duties: Work closely with People Solutions to develop best practices, training, and labor and employment strategy. Provide timely advice on a broad range of day-to-day matters including hiring/background screening, leave of absences/accommodations, termination/discipline, wage and hour, immigration, and benefits. Manage union negotiations, contracts and related matters. Lead or assist in leading strategic-focused projects that have employment or labor law implications. Review, draft, and advise on employment-related agreements, including employment agreements and separation agreements. Assist and support employee and compliance investigations performed by People Solutions as well as perform such investigations, as needed. Draft position statements and other submissions such as responses to state and federal requests for information needed to respond to administrative agencies and handle related mediations. Stay abreast of developments in federal, state, and local employment and labor law and assist in the development and implementation of related compliance plans. Develop/update policies and guidelines in collaboration with People Solutions. Review and advise on compensation plans. Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in which the attorney resides or eligibility to practice as registered in-house counsel. 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, comprised of law firm and/or in-house counsel experience. Must have some in-house experience, preferably at a media company. Experience advising on matters related to Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADEA, ADEA, NLRA, and equivalent state laws and proficient in handling and managing through issues related to restrictive covenants. Excellent written, verbal and listening skills. Strong work ethic and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to identify risk, problem solve, and offer creative solutions to mitigate risk. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a lean team, while empowering business leaders and colleagues and emphasizing accountability. Strong business acumen and excellent project management, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Takes initiative and operates with a sense of urgency, decisiveness and responsiveness. Ability to manage and prioritize a large volume of concurrent projects.
