Compliance Counsel Responsibilities: Maintain and update the company's global sanctions policies, procedures and practices, including third party screening procedures. Provide responsive and timely advice and guidance on commercial issues related to trade sanctions compliance. Assist in negotiating sanctions related contract clauses with various counterparties. Investigate sanctions alerts affecting business partners. Maintain the company's export compliance manual. Ensure proper classification of products and related technologies and oversee applications for U.S. government licenses and classification determinations. Ensure compliance with export license requirements. Develop and implement trade compliance program continuous improvement. Define and oversee data privacy legal requirements for the business. Work closely with data privacy and IT teams to translate data privacy and security related laws and regulations into technical and operational requirements. Partner with key stakeholders and cross function teams (human resources, finance, communications, information security, etc.) to support compliance with data privacy policies, procedures, standards, practices, processes, controls and audit recommendations. Conduct ongoing data privacy training and awareness activities. Support the DPO and IT incident response teams to review, coordinate and respond to data privacy inquiries and incidents from data subjects and government regulators. Respond to customer and stakeholder inquiries concerning compliance programs and policies. Identify gaps in corporate compliance policies and work toward addressing gaps. Partner with IT team to develop digital solutions to improve compliance. Design training materials and deliver training to global employee population at appropriate intervals. Conduct, guide and participate in compliance assessments. Stay abreast of U.S. and non-U.S. regulatory developments concerning trade sanctions laws, export regulations and data security. Support corporate governance policies and practices.

Requirements: JD Degree and active Bar license in good standing in at least one state (preferably active Georgia bar license). 3 years of experience as corporate law or compliance in-house counsel or law firm associate. Aptitude and inclination to handle broad areas of compliance as opposed to any specific area. Experience managing projects and coordinating critical work reviews. Specific experience working in data privacy, trade compliance, export controls, or other compliance areas preferred. Strong fundamental legal skills such as writing and research. Self-motivated, flexible, and efficient working style with ability to work on projects with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Quality-oriented with a focus on detail and the ability to identify and resolve issues independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability build networks globally and cross-functionally. Critical thinking and analytical skills. Experience drafting policy and developing and delivering training a plus.
