Cyber-Privacy Legal Counsel The candidate acts as a subject matter expert who will be sought after for advice, counsel, and judgment on all aspects of privacy and data security. Analyzes and advises business leaders and clients on changes/developments in cyber/privacy law applicable to the enterprise (legislative, regulatory, case law). Assists in all regulatory privacy and/or cybersecurity examinations and provide related support for other internal examinations. Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility. Directs outside cyber/privacy counsel as appropriate. Identifies and communicates legal exposure and risk in a timely and proactive manner to key stakeholders. Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department, and/or business unit for their assigned area(s) of responsibility. Leads and collaborates with Information Security, Human Resources, and other Legal staff related to data loss prevention escalations. Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions. Participates in strategic initiatives of the Enterprise regarding digitization, data analytics, and data usage. Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of their assigned area(s) of responsibility. Provides legal advice and counsel on requirements related to global data privacy. Provides legal advice and counsel to business areas on the development, implementation, and oversight of policies and procedures to protect and secure the firm's Confidential Information. Provides legal advice and support on requirements of Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB) Act and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility. Researches analyze and advise on emerging Data/Cyber regulations at the federal and state levels. Reviews and drafts language for RFPs, contracts, and other legal documents related to data privacy and data security requirements; negotiates arrangements related to the use and collection of personal information. Should have a 4-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Have a law degree from an American Bar Association-accredited school. Must have 3+ Years Direct experience in counseling financial services companies regarding cybersecurity and privacy. Have 5+ years of legal experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position. Experience counseling financial services companies and/or insurance companies regarding cybersecurity and privacy is required. Experience as a privacy incident lead is essential.
