Legal Counsel - Employment Duties: Advise management and human resources professionals on a broad range of issues, including: employee relations; recruiting and hiring; discipline and terminations; internal investigations; leaves of absence; disability accommodations; wage and hour compliance; contingent worker issues; EEO and diversity matters; restrictive covenants; corporate restructuring; separation agreements; benefits issues; and compliance with applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations, including OFCCP/government contractor requirements. Responsible for monitoring and evaluating internal and external developments, ensuring that employment and labor risks are understood, advising on effective strategies to manage risk, and working with HR to develop policies, practices, and training to implement those strategies. Legal Counsel also will represent TI in the resolution of disputes (including litigation and proceedings before administrative agencies) and will manage outside counsel as needed.

Requirements: Must be, or be eligible to become, licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. 3+ years of experience in a law firm or corporate law department representing employers in compliance, counseling, and litigation matters. Preferred qualifications: Interpersonal skills, excellent judgment, and well-developed legal and communication skills to advise effectively and help develop practical business solutions. Self-starter who is able to prioritize and follow through on numerous projects simultaneously and a team player who can collaborate effectively with people in different functions and build strong, influential relationships. Knowledge of employment and labor laws and a strong background in client counseling and compliance programs.
