Senior Regulatory Counsel, Sanctions And Compliance

Senior Regulatory Counsel, Sanctions and Compliance Responsibilities: Assist with the management of enterprise-wide compliance programs, including broad-based regulatory requirements, and those relating to sanctions and data privacy. Support the operational department's compliance and documentation practices. Assist with responses to governmental and administrative investigations and inquiries. Disseminate compliance information to underwriting, claims, operations, and other functional teams on legal and regulatory developments that impact the Company and its business. Support internal oversight of the Company's compliance with sanctions requirements, including screening support and escalation, and management of screening tools. Staying abreast of industry trends and sanctions changes in order to anticipate areas of focus and attention of regulators and keeping business partners and the compliance team informed. Liaise with third parties on compliance data, tools, and corrective actions, as needed. Support general compliance activities and other responsibilities, including special projects, training, and ad hoc reporting, as assigned. Qualifications: J.D. Degree from an ABA-approved Law School. Superior academic credentials. Admission to practice in applicable jurisdiction as a licensed attorney. 8-12 years of experience as a lawyer. In-house counsel with major commercial insurance company experience is preferred. Advanced knowledge of US and international sanctions regulations. Familiarity with state and federal insurance laws and regulations. Experience with general insurance principles and practices. Time management, prioritization, and project management skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Self-driven and self-disciplined. Able to work independently.
