Associate General Counsel, Insurance Regulatory & Head of Compliance The candidate will work proactively with internal teams to identify issues, and then to develop and drive practical solutions. Will implement compliance controls and guidelines to strategically mitigate risk to the organization by structuring, iterating, applying, and training employees on company policies and procedures in-line with applicable law and regulatory requirements. Applies broad knowledge of insurance regulatory concepts and principles; has experience working with insurtechs and regulators; has experience leading and implementing AML/KYC, OFAC, FCPA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, data privacy, and other compliance matters. Will be responsible for the marketing content review process, assist with internal audits, assist with carrier reporting and relations, prepare for insurance examinations, and liaise as necessary with state insurance regulators. Importantly, the candidate must be flexible, willing to work extended hours when necessary, be a team player, think creatively, and have a desire to help design and structure world-class legal and compliance processes as we scale. Will: Advise business teams on regulatory compliance, including on insurance laws. Review and approve advertising, marketing, and other external and internal communications for compliance with industry regulations and business practices. Review and analyze content from third parties (e.g., outside distribution channels). Assist in drafting and updating compliance policies and procedures. Develop, implement, provide training, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Research, analyze, and interpret current, new, and proposed regulatory requirements (e.g., statutes, regulations, bulletins) to determine impact to organization. Provide guidance related to regulatory requirements; identify possible courses of action for various departments. Liaise with carriers, including for marketing reviews, complaint reporting, and contract amendments. Be highly responsive and service-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal clients. Support business teams in structuring commercial transactions, and drafting and negotiating commercial agreements. Oversee entity licensing. Prepare for and assist with responding to any market conduct exams.

Qualifications: JD Degree and membership in good standing in at least one state bar. 10+ years of experience working at a top national or regional law firm or the law department of an insurtech or technology company focusing on life insurance regulatory matters. Ability to multi-task and work independently or with cross-functional teams, while adapting quickly to ambiguous and rapidly changing environments. Experience managing other attorneys and legal professionals. Ability to provide a high volume of marketing content reviews under tight deadlines. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Possess sound and practical business judgment. Analytical and research skills, including NILS or similar regulatory service. Preferred Qualifications: Intellectual curiosity and willingness to expand knowledge base. Familiarity with data privacy regulations. Comprehensive knowledge of the insurance laws, regulations, rules. Practical yet creative problem-solving approach that emphasizes addressing business needs while protecting the company.
