Corporate Counsel/Principal Corporate Counsel, Product and Technology Responsibilities: Drive deep engagement as front-line legal counsel. Provide high-quality, pragmatic legal and business advice regarding a wide range of general product development, privacy/data protection, compliance, content moderation, marketing, accessibility, consumer protection, and intellectual property issues. Provide regulatory and other compliance guidance for various technology, products, and services. Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts with a technology focus. Identify, anticipate, and propose solutions for legal risks. Think strategically and help create and execute on plans to achieve both short-term and long-term results and communicate with key legal and business stakeholders. Resolve project-specific issues by interacting with outside counsel or other service providers. Develop and implement processes, templates and best practices, track projects and share knowledge across the wider Microsoft legal community. Organize and simplify issues and ideas in written or verbal communication,. Work collaboratively within and across CELA functions; identify and engage appropriate stakeholders in CELA and escalate issues when necessary.

Qualifications: Completion of a JD Degree or Equivalent International Degree. Active license to practice law in a US jurisdiction. 4+ years experience as a practicing attorney or equivalent practice of law. The ability to interpret, analyze, and advise on the company's legal position. This includes the ability to apply knowledge of the legal framework related to one's practice area, use legal information to diagnose key issues, and develop strategies and plans. Knowledge of trends, direction, new products, and changes in the technology as it applies to a particular area of focus, as well as specific knowledge about hardware, software and services. The ability to develop and present creative arguments and opinions to support the organization, defend cases, or negotiate solutions. The ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively to an audience that may include, staff, investors, stockholders, stakeholders, clients, and others verbally and through announcements, newsletters, memos, annual reports, status reports, and other media. Knowledge and understanding of global cultures, including similarities and differences. This includes the ability to work across organizational, functional, and geographic boundaries to drive communications, business strategies and multi-geography projects and teams; and adapt to a highly matrixed environment.
