Corporate Counsel - Litigation and Claims Duties: Will manage, develop and apply consistent processes and controls (including billing guidelines, budgeting processes, and other processes to assure timely and economically efficient management of outside litigation counsel. Will assure effective strategy and processes are in place to investigate and favorably resolve all insured and uninsured litigation affecting the Company, including tort, contract & commercial, worker's compensation, labor & employment, and other litigation. Will support a team of risk management professionals located across the United States to assure efficient and timely reporting, communications, resolution of claims, and organizational alignment with the company's mission statement, budget, and short and long term objectives. Working with outside counsel and internal resources, will investigate, evaluate and develop resolution strategies for all litigation affecting the Company, and drive those strategies to fruition. Will notice claims to carriers, manage discovery processes, and coordinate the efforts of outside legal counsel, internal risk management teams, operations, and third-party TPAs and insurers to facilitate expedient and economically efficient resolution of all insured claims in litigation. Will lead and assist with internal investigations and Code of Conduct reports in collaboration with the Company's CLO, CHRO, safety professionals, and finance teams and collaborate with key functional areas to provide root cause analysis of incidents. Will provide regular reporting to operational, safety, and training executives to assist them in their efforts to prevent incidents and reduce the frequency and severity of claims. Will be a steward of the company's core values and promote the company's culture. Will assist with evaluation of risk in connection with the Company's M&A strategy and integration of acquired businesses. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited Law School. Licensed to practice law in the US. 3-5 years of litigation experience with a small to mid-sized firm (plaintiff or defense Bar). Experience directing and collaborating with paralegals, Risk Managers, and third-party claims administrators (adjusters); Strong second chair and light to moderate first chair experience; Demonstrated ability to identifying legal issues, develop litigation strategies to leverage the company's position in connection with those issues, and work independently with little oversight to achieve desired results; An entrepreneurial  or outside the box  thinker with a humble disposition, a keen sense of humor, very high level of emotional intelligence, and an optimistically inquisitive mind-set; Must also be detail oriented, extremely organized, and excellent communicator with the ability to distill complex legal issues into simple business explanations; The intestinal fortitude to make mistakes, the talent/smarts to fix them, and the wisdom to move on to the next play.
