Counsel, Litigation Responsibilities: Primary responsibility meaning, hands-on work, not just supervising outside counsel for a wide variety of litigation matters, pre-litigation dispute resolution, internal counseling, and other legal disputes, with an emphasis on consumer litigation, regulatory disputes and investigations, and discrimination and accessibiity claims. Proactively approach all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, witness preparation, settlement negotiations, and trial and appellate strategies. Work closely with internal business partners to provide strategic and proactive legal advice on litigation and regulatory matters, including but not limited to understanding, interpreting, and applying current law and regulations to's current and prospective products and services. Provide strategic recommendations to a broad range of cross-functional teams addressing sensitive regulatory, accessibility, and other matters. Provide legal guidance to departments such as Compliance, Operations, Public Policy, Communications, Customer Experience & Trust, Product, and Engineering to help craft solutions to the novel legal challenges faces every day. Manage outside counsel in your areas of coverage, including tactical guidance, staffing, case management, budgeting, and alignment with's broader legal strategy.

Qualifications: J.D. degree from a top-tier law school and membership in at least one state bar. Must have 5+ years civil litigation experience at a mid to large size law firm. Strong preference is given to candidates with prior in-house experience. Prior experience with regulatory disputes and investigations, discrimination and accessibility claims, and complex or consumer class actions is preferred. Excellent problem-solving capabilities, strategic thinking, judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills. Both detail oriented and able to see the big picture. Ability to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive attitude to the workplace and is willing to jump on any project, big or small. Executive presence and ability to communicate legal risks and recommendations to senior leaders. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and influence through excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to think quickly on your feet and simultaneously manage workloads, multiple client demands and shifting priorities. Operate with high standards and ethics. An understanding of the multi-modal transportation and ridesharing industries, as well as the sharing economy in general. Passion for *** and the ridesharing community.
