Counsel, Litigation & Employment The candidate will be analyzing, investigating, and drafting responses to pre-litigation employment matters including, but not limited to, agency charges, attorney demand letters, government agency responses, and employment lawsuits. Attending mediations and wage conferences and making appearances acting as a strategic and zealous corporate representative. Providing advice and counsel on a wide range of employment issues, including, wage and hour issues, reasonable accommodations and leaves of absence, employee discipline, and implementation of Company policies and practices in response to new and existing laws. Assisting the legal team with various other projects, including training, policy revisions, and state agency audits.

The candidate must have a Law Degree from an American Law School and Licensure in the State of California and/or Ohio. Should have 5-7 years of experience in Labor / Employment Matter; Litigation experience (preferably in the house); Exposure to the retail, restaurant, or multi-location company. Should have a litigation background handling single-plaintiff employment litigation. Experience defending against claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in both court proceedings and in binding arbitrations. Experience providing legal advice and counsel to human resources on a variety of issues and responding to agency charges. Experience practicing in both a law firm and an in-house setting. Must be an excellent writer and have experience negotiating in contentious proceedings.
