Intellectual Property Counsel

Intellectual Property Counsel The candidate will partner with bioinformatics and software teams to understand current and new developments, as well as designing and implementing global IP strategies to ensure the necessary protection for innovations. Participate and manage with outside counsel in drafting new patent applications and the prosecution of the company's US and foreign patents and patent applications. Monitor and analyze competitor intellectual property. Partner with other members of the legal group to act as a resource for IP matters, including contract drafting and negotiation. Design and implement prior art, freedom to operate, patent validity and non-infringement searches and analyses.

The candidate should have 2 years of experience as a patent attorney working with hands-on IP matters in a law firm or corporate in-house setting. B.S. degrees in computer sciences, mathematics, bioinformatics, statistics, or related field, an advanced degree is preferred, such as a M.S. or PhD. Member in good standing of at least one State Bar with the Colorado Bar preferred. Detailed knowledge of patent laws, patent drafting, patent prosecution and trade secret laws. Experience with the use, and preferably the development, of software for the analysis of large sets of data (proteomic data), familiarity with methods in bioinformatics. Familiarity with statistics and probability theory, especially as applied to machine learning applications, would be optimal. Familiarity with diagnostic tests and protein measurements. History of supporting a company's business and research activities, including providing guidance regarding patentability, freedom-to-operate, patent invalidity and non-infringement, as well as conducting due diligence. Strong sense of integrity and appreciation for managing confidential matters.
