Corporate Compliance Counsel

Corporate Compliance Counsel Duties: Compliance Counsel functions under the direction and supervision of the Managing Counsel, Compliance and Litigation, with a specific concentration on legal and regulatory risk and other duties as assigned. Ensures compliance with various federal and state laws and oversees the implementation and effective operation of a comprehensive corporate compliance program. Drafts procedural documents and policies to effectuate a comprehensive compliance program. Provides support to General Counsel Office with research and advice concerning the formulation interpretation and administration of corporate policies and procedures. Primary contact within the General Counsel's office for Secured Operations with regards to the interpretation of applicable statutes and case law and assistance to the Litigation team with Secured Operation litigation matters. Prepares, reviews and approves all Secured Operations collection communications, both oral and written. Provides support to the Acquisition Process for Secured Pool products. Assists the Strategy and Operations Departments as well as company subsidiaries in the formulation of policies and procedures that are complaint with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Provides proactive services, including researching and organizing relevant statutes and case materials, reviewing relevant articles and cases cited in collection industry publications. Provides assistance to the Training Department on training issues resulting from changes in laws or case law or as needed for compliance purposes. Assists the Training Department with the development and delivery of appropriate training and re-training. Assists the Litigation, Disputes and Customer Service departments by reviewing accounts, notes, letters, payments, and any other information as needed to provide legal assistance when necessary to resolve outstanding issues related to Secured Operation accounts. Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies across areas of organizational responsibility.

Qualifications: JD Degree required. 5+ years related experience. Prior litigation and consumer Bankruptcy Law experience. Prior Secured and Unsecured Auto experience. Familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations related to consumer credit and collections, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Truth-in-Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Able to provide practical advice in a timely manner. Able to discern and analyze the impact of multiple issues on a given situation.
