Senior Counsel - Labor and Employment Duties: Provides day-to-day strategic and proactive labor and employment law advice, counsel and guidance to HR and management on a variety of subjects, including hiring practices and procedures, employee discipline, performance management and separations, protected leaves and accommodations, wage and hour requirements, collective bargaining obligations and strategies, unfair labor practices, grievances, and arbitrations. Ensures compliance with labor and employment laws and regulations, including development, implementation, interpretation, and guidance regarding company policies and practices, and preventive law training. Manages labor and employment law litigation matters and represents the company in mediation, arbitration and responding to federal and state administrative/regulatory agency charges.

Qualifications: A Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited college or university is required. Current license to practice law and admission in a U.S. state bar, a member in good standing. Must have 10+ years of experience practicing as a licensed attorney in one or more states (a combination of in-house and law firm experience is desired). Experience representing public companies is a plus. Experience with international business operations, federal government contracting compliance, corporate M&A transactions, and data security and privacy compliance is an asset. Experience with employee health and welfare benefit plans is a plus. Deep subject matter expertise in traditional labor and employment law. Commitment to excellence. Reputation for ethical conduct, integrity and confidentiality. Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving legal issues quickly and effectively. Demonstrated ability make and advise on risk-based decisions. Demonstrated experience prioritizing competing demands in a fast-paced environment. Project management expertise. Trusted advisor to senior leaders. Professional maturity. Institutional savvy. The high degree of attention to detail. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, drafting and communication skills. Ability to confidently interact with colleagues and adversaries and to translate difficult legal principles into practical business solutions. Must understand the dynamics of managing outside counsel. Be a quick learner with a high degree of common sense and resourcefulness, and the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks.
