Chief Counsel and Compliance Officer Duties: Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs/protocols to meet industry and regulatory standards (ex. OSHA safety protocols, Documentation and Reporting requirements, HIPAA protocols). Proactively conduct internal audits and investigations, focused on the consumer side of the agency. Initiate corrective action as needed. Guide practice through audits from regulatory bodies including, but not limited to: OSHA, local and state Departments of Public Health, Mental Health, Child Welfare, Joint Commission, and other applicable contractors. Periodically review and update company policies and compliance programs to ensure they remain compliant with relevant laws and regulations. Investigate formal consumer grievances and respond with timely written reports to insurance companies. Create and manage corrective action plans and risk mitigation strategies in response compliance violations. Conduct and monitor employee training programs relating to healthcare law and regulations. Keep abreast of changing laws and regulations. Prepare and file required regulatory, licensing, or similar documents. Develop, maintain, and monitor the organizational standards of conduct and ethics programs. Develop and execute organizational compliance, privacy, ethics, and related trainings. Manage review, and update contracts for the agency. Conduct root cause analysis and risk trending related to compliance and risk programs. Manage agency licensing obligations and requirements. Manage all nonemployment related legal issues and lawsuits. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited college or university. Proven experience as a Chief Compliance Officer in healthcare or social services preferred. Proven experience as a General Counsel with managing legal issues and lawsuits Professional certificate (e.g. CCEP, CPC or CPHRM) preferred. Maintains all required licenses and certifications. Additional Requirements: Must be well versed at understanding contract language and potential outcomes dependent on the structure of agreements. Experience in risk management. Knowledge of Federal, California and local employment and healthcare law. Knowledge of CA OSHA regulations. Knowledge of HIPAA and state-based data privacy and security laws and regulations. Familiarity with general healthcare industry practices and professional standards. Strong oral and written communication skills (written and verbal). Detail orientated. Critical thinking and problem solving. Effective working alone or in a team. Willing to be hands on.
