Associate Counsel - Privacy & Data Security

Associate Counsel - Privacy & Data Security Duties: Provide advice related to data privacy and information security to internal clients. Collaborate with business areas to assess and advise on the impact of such laws and regulations on Sentry's businesses. Develop guidance on the application, impact, and implementation of applicable privacy and data protection laws. Draft privacy notices, notice of collection, and other required consents. Support app development, e-commerce, and digital marketing relationships by discussing relevant security and privacy matters. Review and make recommendations for negotiating data security provisions with current vendors and assist with onboarding of new vendors. Negotiate privacy considerations in various contracts, including technology agreements involving the sharing of data. Assist commercial attorneys with the privacy-specific elements of standard contract templates, training materials, and legal negotiation playbooks. Review the applicability and sufficiency of existing practices and help redesign programs, resources, and processes consistent with applicable data privacy laws, data security regulations, and best practices. Assist with the response to governmental investigations regarding data security incidents and privacy matters. Advise on Payment Card Industry compliance and standards. Review and advise on implementation of various communication methods, including processes and training materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws such as TCPA, COPPA, and CAN-SPAM. Advise on information governance issues, such as litigation holds, document retention, and destruction policies.

Qualifications: 5+ years of overall legal experience. Experience in Privacy & Data Security preferred. Strong academic background and a JD Degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association. License to practice law. Proven ability to interact effectively with a variety of people. Expertise in a specific area of law utilized in work experience with a law firm, an insurance company, or a corporation.
