Senior Corporate Counsel, Employment Duties: Responsible for managing labor and employment issues across the company (both U.S. and globally) and providing guidance on an array of topics to People team. Work closely with and report to General Counsel. Complete new hire training & onboarding program alongside other new Sprout team members. Partner with General Counsel to define priorities, best practices, and key success metrics for your role. Connect and engage with stakeholders of People team to understand their needs and priorities and how to best support them. Develop an understanding of our employee base and the related risks facing our business. Provide day-to-day advice on domestic and international employment matters and best practices. Review and draft employment-related documents, including employment agreements, separation agreements, consulting agreements, offer letters, and confidentiality agreements. Meet with People team leadership and other stakeholders at a regular cadence to ensure the current legal process aligns with business objectives. Provide written updates and guidance on changes to applicable laws to impacted internal stakeholders. Assist with the investigation of employee/employment-related claims. Assist with and advise on immigration law issues with the assistance of outside counsel as needed. Develop internal resources for the People team to reference on a self-service basis, driving efficiency in all legal review processes. Manage outside counsel in a cost-effective manner. Review and update employee handbook on an annual basis. Regularly review and update our templates and policies to conform with changes in applicable law, including those related to hybrid working models. Work with the People team to develop, maintain, and implement training on relevant matters. Manage any potential or active employment-related litigation matters. Drive project management or implementation of compliance-related updates or initiatives. Identify other areas for streamlining and improvement. Play a key role in helping our company scale globally. Be considered an integral leader of the legal team and our internal employment law expert.

Qualifications: Member in good standing of the state bar in which they reside. 5-7 years of experience (a mix of in-house and law firm experience preferred), with at least 4 years of experience directly relevant to this role. Significant experience in providing counseling and strategic advice on a broad spectrum of employment issues in multiple jurisdictions, including workplace policies and procedures, performance management, leaves of absence and accommodations, compensation and benefits, internal investigations, worker classification, terminations, restrictive covenants, and recruiting and hiring practices. Preferred qualifications: In-house experience at a fast-paced, quickly growing company. International employment law experience. Experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion matters. A team player who is interested in pivoting to help other Legal team members as needed, such as providing support for ongoing projects and reviewing relevant vendor contracts from time to time.
