Corporate Counsel, Employment Law Duties: Provide legal advice and support human resources and management on day-to-day employee relations matters and compliance, including recruiting, hiring, and compensation; employee discipline, performance management, terminations, and restructurings; anti-discrimination, harassment prevention, and non-retaliation; federal and state wage-hour compliance; leaves of absence and workplace accommodations; and internal investigations of potential violations of company policy. Minimize legal exposure by proactively reviewing existing practices, forms, contracts, and policies regarding employment matters, while considering business objectives and practicalities. Manage pre-litigation claims, settlement negotiations and mediations, and federal and state litigation, including management of outside counsel where support is needed. Develop training materials and provide training on employment law issues and employment-related policies and practices to human resources professionals and other employees. Establish and maintain relationships, credibility, and trust with clients, stakeholders, legal team members, and other colleagues. Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Assistant General Counsel- Litigation & Employment.

Requirements: Must have a JD degree from an accredited law school and current license to practice law in one or more jurisdictions in the U.S. Must have 3-7 years of substantive employment law experience with a corporate legal department and/or a nationally recognized law firm. Labor experience preferred. Superior knowledge of key U.S. employment laws, including but not limited to, Title VII, ADEA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EPA, NLRA, and state law equivalents. Significant experience analyzing complicated laws and regulations and translating them into practical, business-oriented legal counsel. Experience in overseeing internal investigations, as well as handling employment matters before federal, state courts and administrative agencies. Experience drafting corporate policies, employment and severance agreements, and restrictive covenants. Competence as a lawyer; ability to independently manage heavy workload in a high-pressure environment. Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills within and across departments and externally; must be proactive in providing counsel to clients. Outstanding organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize deadlines. Laser-focus on client-service excellence by being highly proactive, responsive, adaptable, and team-oriented.
