Privacy Counsel The candidate will serve as a trusted partner to the business, as well as product development and functional teams by providing practical and solutions-oriented legal guidance that balances Adaptive's privacy compliance needs within the needs and priorities of the specific teams, as well as adaptive in general. Support program updates, expansion, and remediation; assist in the completion of data privacy impact assessments, product privacy assessments, transfer impact assessments, and other privacy-related assessments; help triage and respond to privacy incidents and data subject requests; help develop and deliver presentations, informational tools and training teams on privacy and data protection topics. Effectively plan and collaborate on a range of projects, both within Privacy and Legal and cross-functionally; develop and execute privacy and data protection initiatives. Develop and implement privacy policies and processes; maintain and improve processes and workflows; support maintenance of online privacy policies. Work with internal clients and Legal colleagues to negotiate data processing agreements, business associate agreements, standard contractual clauses, data use agreements, and other privacy-related agreements; contribute to the improvement of standard forms of agreements, alternate language playbooks, and internal resource documents with respect to privacy and data processing matters. Monitor relevant privacy and data protection laws and enforcement activities to ensure ongoing compliance, track emerging risks and assist with policy creation and other program materials. Should have Juris Doctorate from a nationally accredited law school, or international equivalent. Should have 5+ years of prior in-house or law firm experience providing legal counsel on the laws and regulations relating to the biotech/pharma industry; expertise in areas of applicable global privacy and data protection laws (including HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA). Should have completed information access and/or Protection of Privacy Certificate Program or other related certifications is an asset (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or CIPM). Should have strong verbal and written business communication skills are absolutely essential: highly adept at synthesizing and summarizing complex and/or voluminous content into clear, concise, and actionable communications; ability to work under fast-paced conditions, comfortable making decisions, and demonstrates good judgment; strong project management skills: can prioritize multiple tasks and goals to ensure timely, on-target, and within-budget accomplishments. Experience and passion for privacy and data protection topics, especially as they impact the biotech industry, as well as new and emerging technologies (e.g., digital health, clinical trials, genomic data, and real-world data/evidence is a must.
