Senior Counsel of Business and Legal Affairs (Employment / M&A) The candidate will provide advice and counsel to the HR team on a broad range of employment issues including hiring; performance management; discipline and separations; reorganizations; wage and hour compliance; contingent worker/contractor issues; reasonable accommodations; leaves of absence; privacy; benefits; and other employment-related matters. Will provide advice and counsel on global labor and employment framework, handbooks, and practices. Review and provide guidance on the development of HR policies and procedures globally. Monitor employment-related legal developments and engage proactively to drive compliance and implement risk-mitigating strategies. Draft and negotiate employment offers, separation and settlement agreements, and other employment-related agreements. Advise on complex/sensitive employment matters and help resolve matters through pre-dispute resolution and/or positioning Roku for potential employment litigation. Manage employment-related claims and litigation, including managing outside counsel and responding to administrative charges, complaints, attorney's letters, settlement demands, and claims globally. Negotiate appropriate resolutions to claims and other pending matters. Assist with preparing, reviewing, and implementing training programs. Assist with other projects as needed.

The candidate must have a JD degree with 6 years of experience handling employment and labor issues in a demanding and innovative business and legal environment. Expertise in employment counseling with a strong understanding of California and federal employment and labor laws are needed. Prior in-house experience is strongly preferred. Admission to the New York or California Bar is preferred. Must have strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience advising on employment and labor issues unique to the technology and/or entertainment/content production industries preferred.
