Senior Counsel, Privacy Duties: Regarding data protection, (1) provide support to other Legal team members on issues; (2) respond to inquiries; and (3) play a key part in impact assessments on new and existing products, as well as broader Affirm initiatives. Lead and support (1) third-party due diligence processes with respect to data protection; (2) regulatory investigations and responses; and (3) outstanding data protection training and education initiatives. Collaborate cross-functionally to review and track data-protection compliance through project lifecycles. Be a cross-functional champion for data protection at the company. Lead and collaborate on various one-off projects, as needed.

Qualifications: 7+ years of legal experience related to data privacy, fintech, and financial services JD Degree and membership in a US state bar (in good standing). Experience as a key member of a successful team. Inquisitive and proactive in (1) identifying legal issues and risks and (2) proposing creative, effective solutions. Consistent record of encouraging relationships across all levels and operating through influence, with the confidence to formulate, advocate, and drive ideas forward. Ability to build, develop, or improve all types of data governance and policy management systems. Experience in developing and delivering well-designed executive presentations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, compromise, and demonstrate tact in sensitive situations, and to interact well with senior management. Focused and able to make independent decisions, plus work with limited supervision while excelling in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Inquisitive nature, plus comfortable questioning current practices. Experienced in leading and delivering cross-functional initiatives, collaborating with business and functional authorities to provide risk assessment guidance, recognize risks, and design improvements. Strong people management and leadership skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills: able to present sophisticated issues in a clear, persuasive manner. Passionate about improving consumer credit products and customer experiences.
