Privacy Attorney

Privacy Attorney Duties: Provide legal support to multiple departments in privacy diligence and negotiating, drafting, and reviewing data privacy provisions in agreements. Advise on data protection incidents, including determining whether notifications are required and drafting such. Assist in maturing the privacy program, including impact assessments, training, policy and procedure development, and implementation of privacy-by-design principles. Monitor developments in federal, international, and state privacy and data security laws. Draft, implement and assist with operationalizing privacy-related documentation, including consents, privacy notices, and other documents for the lawful transmission of data. Assist in responding to requests to exercise data subject rights. Collaborate with legal department colleagues on a variety of legal and regulatory issues, with an emphasis on privacy, security and regulatory compliance. Provide legal counsel on intellectual property issues, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and domain names. Strategically manage outside counsel and budgets. Performs other duties requiring legal research and analysis and/or negotiations as may be requested by the General Counsel, an Associate General Counsel, or other more senior attorney.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Law degree from an accredited school. IAAP Certification (CIPP) is a plus. Must be a current member in good standing of a bar association Should have 5 years of relevant experience. practicing transactional and privacy attorney. Experience with a mid-sized to a major law firm or in-house legal department. Experience counseling on compliance with GDPR and a full range of federal and state privacy laws, drafting privacy policies and notices, drafting and negotiating privacy-related contractual provisions, and evaluating and responding to data security incidents.
