Assistant General Counsel, Product & Privacy responsibilities: Primary areas of legal knowledge and experience should include SaaS product advice, content licensing, and privacy laws and regulations (GDPR, CCPA), and secondary areas of knowledge should include marketing, employment, and litigation. Drafting and negotiating high value commercial contracts for the Content Licensing and Product business units including license agreements, technology agreements, partnership agreements and other vendor contracts. Supervising and mentoring attorneys already on the legal staff. Assigning and prioritizing work for team members, as well as reviewing and approving work products. Responsible for making sure that all privacy, compliance, and risk obligations are properly resourced and completed. This includes the creation and review of privacy documentation, applying privacy laws and regulations to our offerings, and conducting audits and assessments to uncover gaps. This also includes gathering risk information, assessing risks, making recommendations, and communicating on how risks should be addressed. Liaising with Content Licensing and Product teams and providing legal advice on copyright and IP issues. Liaising with the Marketing team on go-to-market initiatives including product naming and descriptions. Providing transactional, corporate governance, and compliance activities. Providing support and day-to-day legal advice to the Cision group of companies various business units including HR and international entities. Advising on various other commercial initiatives within Cision which may include compliance activities and policies. Assisting with litigation issues that arise from time to time. Assisting with mergers and acquisitions to the extent intersecting with stated areas of responsibility.

Qualifications: 8-10 total years of legal working experience, preferably with a majority in the technology or software as a service (SaaS) field. 8-10 total years of legal working experience, preferably 2-4 years in a people management capacity. Familiarity with software legal/licensing concepts such as intellectual property, limitations of liability, indemnification, etc. Familiarity with copyright laws and regulations. Solid understanding of privacy laws and regulations such as GDPR, CASL, CAN-SPAM, and CCPA. Prior participation in or management of risk and compliance programs. Computer skills, especially Microsoft Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines in a service-oriented and sales-driven environment. Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to interact effectively and work diplomatically with individuals at all levels within the organization. Organized, efficient and able to handle multiple tasks with ease and professionalism.
