Corporate Counsel Duties: Work with internal clients including divisions within the Law Department, operating personnel, marketing personnel, human relations personnel, as well as outside counsel and experts to manage and direct litigation or settlements. Research, write, and edit briefs and memoranda regarding case-specific issues and broader legal initiatives. Evaluate cases as part of a team and work toward efficient and appropriate resolutions. Draft or deliver presentations to various internal audiences regarding case statuses, litigation trends, and potential reform efforts.

Qualifications: Doctoral Degree (Juris Doctor) is required. Georgia Bar license or active license in another state Bar to seek to waive into Georgia Bar after commencement of employment. Should have 8 years in the legal field. Experience defending and prosecuting lawsuits either in-house or in private practice. Trial experience or Federal or State judicial externship or clerkship is preferred. Experience with federal preemption and preclusion issues, regulatory enforcement or engagement, and incident investigations. Appellate briefing experience. Familiarity and experience handling commercial contract litigation. Strong oral and written skills; ability to summarize complex matters into presentations, memo, and action plans. Strong interpersonal skills. Self-motivated. Highly Desired Qualifications: Should preferably have 10-12 years in the legal field. Familiarity with the FELA, including involvement in Safety Appliance Act or Locomotive Inspection Act cases. Participation in the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel or similar transportation-oriented organization. Familiarity or support of tort reform or other legislative activity that promotes litigation reform.
