Compliance Counsel

Compliance Counsel Responsibilities: Developing and implementing compliance policies, procedures, tools and management systems and maintaining records to ensure adherence and avoid legal risk. Enforcing internal policies and procedures consistent with our corporate values. Keeping legal and business colleagues abreast of changes to laws and regulations affecting compliance and working closely with them to provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice on regulatory issues. Conducting internal investigations and compliance audits. Creating and delivering compliance trainings. Supporting disputes and litigation as required. Managing outside counsel as needed. Providing advice and counsel. Acting like a professional, thoughtful, respectful, and good-humored colleague throughout all levels of the organization.

Qualifications: JD from an accredited institution and state bar admission in good standing, CA preferred. Should have 7+ years of relevant legal experience, a combination of law firm and in-house preferred. Demonstrated experience in corporate compliance in areas such as Finance, HR, Tax, Data Privacy, Safety, Quality, Import/Export, anti-corruption, etc. Experience conducting thorough investigations including witness interviews and documentation reviews. Experience conducting or supporting program audit functions. Litigation experience, or support of litigation matters. Knowledge of the Auto Industry is a plus. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Mandarin-speaking a plus. Demonstrated ability to manage projects from beginning to end, including the development of detailed task timelines, and managing team members to those goals. Effective management of outside counsel. Ability to provide in-person training for employees at all organizational levels. Ability to work under tight deadlines.
