Sr Corporate Counsel

Senior Corporate Counsel The candidate will provide legal support for general corporate matters, including but not limited to non-disclosure agreements, vendor agreements, data privacy, corporate registration and tax, financial transactions, and commercial real estate transactions. Provide legal advice and support to Human Resources (HR) and management on employment and labor law matters. Stay up-to-date on changes in state and federal employment laws that may impact employees in all states in which the company operates, and in collaboration with outside counsel provide support to the Finance team on state employment tax matters. In collaboration with HR, develop and ensure compliance with the company's Affirmative Action Plan. In collaboration with HR and the Director, Ethics, and Compliance, participate in investigations related to employee relations matters. Provide legal support to the Retirement Plan Oversight Group. Provide legal support to the Education Office and the firm Scholars Program. Provide general corporate legal advice to complex technical product and service organizations. Supervise outside counsel in matters relating to employment and labor law, collective bargaining agreements, benefit plans covered by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended (ERISA), and related litigation.

Qualifications: The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. law school. Must maintain a license to practice law in Massachusetts, or the ability to obtain In-house counsel status in Massachusetts. Should have 7+ years of experience as Senior Corporate Counsel or 5+ years of experience for Corporate Counsel as a practicing attorney with a U.S. law firm, as in-house counsel, or the federal government. Working knowledge of and demonstrated experience in familiarity with employment and labor law. Managing outside counsel. Preference will be given to attorneys familiar with and experience managing ERISA matters in coordination with outside counsel. Self-motivated, energetic, and proactive. A focus on responsiveness and excellent work product is required. Ability to handle and set priorities for multiple projects with minimal supervision and have a willingness to work on matters in a variety of legal areas. A practical, roll-up-the-shirt-sleeves, hands-on approach to the practice of law. A collaborative, team-player attitude. Must be able to manage and execute multiple projects within required time frames and expectations. Strong negotiation and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to inform and persuade both orally and in writing.
