Senior Corporate Counsel The candidate will assist on diverse legal issues, including casino gaming law (including i-gaming and sports betting), regulatory licensing, real estate leases, entertainment and hospitality agreements, employment, labor, data privacy, and general corporate and compliance matters, intellectual property and Native American law. Assist with post-acquisition integrations. Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts. Assist with managing national corporate entities and support secretarial function, including assisting with the preparation of subsidiary board materials. Advise key stakeholders of legal and business risks related to commercial deals that you support. Review and assist with state and federal and tribal legislative and regulatory initiatives. Assist Vice President General Counsel with review and approval of work by the paralegal support staff. Assist in the development of organizational policies and procedures. Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Vice President General Counsel. Assists in the enforcement of the privacy rules pursuant to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Assisting in the protection of the sovereignty and economic self-determination of the Mohegan Tribe and other tribes through economic, trade-industry and other relationships. Broad understanding of rules, regulations and laws applicable to MGE's various entities. Broad understanding of international laws and practices applicable MGE's international initiatives, including without limitation Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the United Kingdom Bribery Act. Knowledge of corporate and department policies and procedures. Adherence to all rules and regulations of the Management Board. Should have a Juris Doctor. Must have 5 years of contract drafting and negotiation experience, preferably involving hospitality, entertainment, finance, project development or other related areas. Possess an interest in gaming law. Must be a member of the State of Connecticut Bar or another state bar. Eligible for state and tribal gaming occupational licenses, as needed. Strong organization, effective planning, problem solving, and analytical skills required. Superior communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to liaise comfortably with all levels of management and outside counsel. Must exhibit initiative and assertiveness in obtaining information needed to proceed with projects and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations or urgent requests that may arise with little or no notice. Must possess discretion and sensitivity when working with confidential information and safeguard such information appropriately. Ability to exhibit independent judgment when evaluating projects or assignment needs. Knowledge of MGE's financing structure and public reporting and disclosure obligations. Understanding of the Mohegan Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO) as it relates to employment. Ability to use or learn the Department's document management and outside counsel management systems.
