Contracts Attorney Duties: The candidate will draft, review, and negotiate business contracts to support the business objectives and policies of the company. Business contracts involve a variety of subject matter, including utility, industrial, commercial, real estate, and government contracting. Lead and collaborate throughout contracting processes by analyzing significant business, financial and legal risks; and develop and communicate creative solutions and mitigation strategies for key negotiation points. Build strong collaborative relationships internally and externally to drive strong, time-sensitive results. Collaborate with the internal Contracts department and internal team leaders to understand contract needs for sales and purchases. Train internal client groups, promote legal compliance and educating personnel on the implications of risks on various functions within the company. Provide legal advice, risk assessment, and assistance with general corporate matters. Act as primary legal support for the assigned business unit(s) and subsidiaries and work with supervising counsel to resolve pending matters. Research and report on legal issues related to client needs and compliance. Work with and manage workflow with external counsel. Draft and review business agreements, company policies, and other documents as required for review by supervising counsel. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles. Understand. Create. Simplify. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited school of law. Member in good standing with the State of Washington bar (or, if practicing in a foreign jurisdiction, properly admitted and in good standing in such jurisdiction). Should have 2+ years of experience practicing law. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated expertise in required areas of law such as corporate, international, employment, contracts, and intellectual property. Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills. Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. Background check results are satisfactory to SEL. Negative drug test result(s). Business and legal fluency in a second language is preferred.
