Senior Counsel - Labor and Employment The candidate will provide in-house legal counsel on labor and employment related matters as they relate to's offerings, its role as an employer of record, along, and its employees, which may include, but are not limited to, wage and hour laws, workers compensation, labor relations, human resources issues, employee agreements and policy related issues, employment related litigation, grievances and arbitration, FMLA matters and generally assist the Director of Legal and support the Product Compliance, People Operations, Labor Relations, and Operations and Tax teams. Internal lead for handling all claims related to labor and employment matters. Supervise, manage and evaluate outside counsel on labor and employment related matters, including litigation. Support the Labor Relations team, including by assisting in the review and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and providing guidance on how they may be incorporated into platform and offerings. Support the Product Compliance team, including by advising on labor, employment, and tax laws and regulations and best practices as they relate to platform and offerings as an employer of record. Support the People Operations team, including by advising on labor and employment-related matters as they relate its workforce. Support the Operations and Tax team by advising on labor and employment matters or questions that may arise. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and manage projects with a team-oriented approach. Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within labor and employment and advise accordingly. Review, negotiate, and draft agreements with customers and vendors. Educate clients and stakeholders on legal matters, policies, and procedures. Establish and maintain relationships, credibility, and trust with stakeholders, legal team members and other colleagues. Lead and assist the Director of Legal with other legal matters as needed.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Bar certified to practice law in at least one state in the U.S Should have 5+ years experience as a labor and employment attorney with relevant in-house and/or law firm experience. Excellent oral and written communications skills. An ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced environment to drive program and process adoption. Keen business sense with strong judgment, advising, negotiation, drafting, and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize and operate independently and effectively in a dynamic environment. Experience developing and driving program and process adoption with cross-functional stakeholders. Ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced and agile environment. Experience in the entertainment payroll industry is preferred. Experience reviewing and interpreting collective bargaining agreements is preferred. Experience as lead for handling claims related to labor and employment matters and experience dealing with CA and NY labor practices a plus. Experience/strong interest in working in a start-up environment is preferred.
