Corporate Counsel, Privacy, MACTRAP Legal Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day and strategic advice on a broad range of product, regulatory, and privacy matters to businesses and their business line non-privacy attorneys alike. Work closely with business leaders, other legal teams including Amazon's core CDO Privacy Legal team, and our public policy team to advise on all aspects of global privacy laws and regulations associated with these businesses. Develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways, and build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly as they launch new products and services involving emerging technologies. Help them prepare for and comply with privacy regulations. Qualifications: J.D. and membership in good standing in at least one State Bar. Should have 5+ years of legal experience, with a majority focused directly on issues related to privacy, data protection, or related regulatory matters (e.g., data protection regulation such as CCPA, GDPR, or LGPD). Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of practice experience focused directly on issues related to privacy, data protection or related regulatory matters (e.g., data protection regulation such as CCPA, GDPR, or LGPD), with 2 years at a law firm. Experience directly interacting with privacy and data protection regulators is extremely helpful. Thorough understanding of Internet architecture and related technologies, such as e-commerce, data processing, location-based services, financial technologies including online payment business models, and the legal and regulatory environment that surrounds them. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in explaining complex areas of regulatory law to those without subject matter expertise, preferably at a senior executive and leadership level in a large corporate environment. Ability to manage and exercise sound judgment in mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous situations.
