Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property Responsibilities: Develop and implement global Intellectual Property strategy (patent procurement and management) for assigned business units in collaboration with T&I, Product Management, and Senior IP Counsel for achieving SABIC's business strategy. Manage IP budget for responsible businesses as well as global IP portfolio to ensure portfolio is aligned with business objectives. Advise business on structure of business arrangements, negotiating and executing IP-related contracts with global customers and suppliers (NDA, JDA, DAA, licenses); structure, negotiate and draft contracts to support global licensing activities. Implement freedom to practice processes across SBUs to minimize patent infringement risks. Handle patent litigation activities with in-house litigation specialists and outside counsel, managing costs of outside counsel. Assist in IP due diligence for M&A activities. Reconcile IP strategies of varying IP laws around the world with technology and business objectives, execute transactions covering multiple business units globally, and navigate increasing challenges within the regulatory environment, e.g., export control matters. Manage IP portfolios for assigned business units within guidelines from Lead IP Counsel and corporate objectives (reviewing several hundred patents in numerous countries to determine impact on business objectives and competitive position).

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree with a relevant technical focus area in chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science. Advanced degree preferred with a relevant technical focus (e.g., chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science. Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school. Registered and in good standing with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one state bar, preferably Texas. Should have 10+ years of relevant experience in intellectual property and transactional support. Knowledgeable and proficient with project management, data science preferred. Demonstrated effective communication skills with management.
