Senior Corporate Counsel, Privacy

Senior Corporate Counsel, Privacy Duties: Helping manage and further develop global privacy program, including developing necessary frameworks and processes to scale, in collaboration with Head of Privacy. Develop a proactive, privacy-by-design strategy in advising the firm about all aspects of relevant privacy laws and regulations. Provide privacy expertise on relevant privacy laws and regulations, including applicable student data privacy, children's data privacy, consumer privacy, marketing privacy, employee privacy, and security privacy laws. Advise and work collaboratively with all business partners, including the product, people, leadership, and marketing teams. Actively monitor developments in applicable privacy laws and regulations. Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating of privacy and data security terms in contracts with business partners and vendors, including data processing agreements and data protection terms. Reviewing, evaluating, and implementing privacy requirements for corporate initiatives and vendor agreements that involve the collection and use of employee or school data. Advising on data privacy incidents, including an investigation to remediation. Providing privacy expertise in diligence in any M&A activity.

Qualifications: J.D. from a well-regarded law school and active good standing with at least one State Bar. Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) is preferred. Should have 6+ years of experience in a law firm and/or technology company. Experience applying privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines in a business context. Experience collaborating with and influencing senior leadership. Superb verbal and written communication skills. Possess a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving and be able to effectively advise internal business partners by providing them with clear and practical advice Knowledge of privacy and security, especially student and consumer privacy laws. Strong organizational skills and the ability to simultaneously manage several projects. Self-starter who operates autonomously while being a collaborative team player.
