Insurance Regulatory Counsel - Property Casualty Responsibilities: Manage and oversee surplus lines filings. Manage department s handling of consumer complaints and information requests. Handle market conduct and financial exams. Counsel to day-to-day management of our insurance companies market conduct regulatory notices and inquiries. Assist in coordinating, and/or preparing responses to exam requests/findings/criticisms and regulatory inquiries, preparing market conduct regulatory filings, and liaising directly with our regulators regarding such exams, inquiries and filings. Develop and help to drive strategic advocacy positions, solutions and/or settlements in response to regulatory findings and negotiating fair and reasonable exam outcomes. Oversee preparation of other regulatory filings (e.g., Holding Company, and company licensing). Partner and interact with state regulators. Provide guidance concerning financial statement disclosures. Oversee monitoring of insurance laws and insurance department actions. Effectively work in a team environment, closely collaborate and provide team support with peers across Legal, Compliance and other control functions.

Qualifications: Should have JD and admittance to at least one state. Should have 7+ years of major law firm or in-house experience in the insurance industry. Experience handling insurance regulatory matters and demonstrable experience in one or more of the areas of responsibility. Experience with drafting, mark-ups and negotiation of agreements. Problem-solving skills that demonstrate ability to critically evaluate and analyze issues and recommend well thought-out and/or creative solutions. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational, time management and project management skills. Knowledgeable about regulatory and risk management functions. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment and to find creative solutions on diverse matters requiring complex legal and strategic analysis. Ability to identify and develop solutions to legal and business risks.
