Counsel - Employment Law The candidate will work on complex legal issues where analysis requires identification and evaluation of multiple factors. Counsel on the day-to-day employment situations, such as those related to accommodations, leaves of absence, employee complaints, performance management, discipline, pre-employment issues, recruitment, contract workers, wage & hour, and separations of employment. Advise on or conduct internal investigations. Review and draft documents and templates related to HR law. Review and analyze legislation and judicial developments affecting the company and advise on associated legal risks and process improvements. Exercise independent and practical judgment regarding legal advice with limited supervision. Coordinate legal matters handled by outside counsel. Negotiate discrete employment-related disputes; manage dispute resolutions. Participate in the departmental and cross-functional working group in identified areas of expertise. Prepare and conduct training with colleagues. Participate in the development and interpretation of company policies.

The candidate should have a JD from an ABA-accredited law school and 3 years of relevant legal experience. Licensed or eligible to practice in the applicable state. Ability to effectively communicate, both written and oral, with the intended audience. Ability to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. Ability to exercise agility and adaptability in providing legal advice. Comfortable in a rapidly changing corporate environment. Proficient using MS Office. Experience counseling for in-house clients is preferred. Experience counseling financial services or insurance companies is preferred. Expertise in counseling on sales commission plans is preferred. Litigation experience is preferred.
