Legal Counsel - Employment The candidate will provide general legal advice and services to the Company on Human Resources, Compensation, and Benefits matters. Manage employment litigation, including wage & hour claims and ADA claims, from pre-litigation demands through resolution. Manage Company responses to EEOC charges. Draft, edit, and revise human resources-related policies, procedures, and training. Advise Human Resources Department on confidential employment-related matters, including disciplinary resolutions and corrective action plans, leave and disability accommodations, separations, and terminations. Advise Compensation and Benefits Departments on various matters, including ERISA, executive compensation, 401(k) administration, HIPAA, etc. Conduct and manage certain employment-related internal investigations. Provide counseling on Fair Labor Standards Act and other wage & hour-related issues. Identify employment-related risks and work with Human Resources Department including Team Member Relations, Learning and Development, Compensation, and Benefits to mitigate risks. Review certain vendor contracts for Human Resources Department and draft agreements for Human Resources Department. Provide employment-related training to Team Members. Remain current on applicable employment laws and trends, including monitoring legislation, regulations, and case law, and collaborate with Human Resources as a business partner regarding the same. Manage outside counsel. Other duties and reporting directed by General Counsel that are consistent with the business needs.

The candidate should have 5-10 years of prior law firm or in-house experience with a focus on employment law. ERISA, executive compensation, or HIPAA experience is a plus. Experience providing employment advice to retail entities preferred. A Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state, preferably Georgia. Effective communications skills, including communicating advice to management in the field, business units, and Senior Management. Ability to manage multiple matters with critical deadlines. Prior experience with litigation management is a plus. Ability to build relationships, openly share knowledge, and effectively collaborate with multiple business units, other in-house attorneys, compliance and outside counsel. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
