Senior Litigation Counsel Responsibilities: Analyze liability and damage issues in connection with high exposure/complex claims made against our insureds and maintain appropriate documentation. Analyze insurance coverage issues and draft coverage position letters reflecting the same. Act as AXIS gatekeeper for outside coverage opinions before outside counsel is retained. Review, evaluate, and provide assistance with all time and policy-limited demands received in primary and excess. Provide monitoring counsel support on excess claims. Attend mediations and monitor trials. Maintain and develop professional relationships with internal stakeholders, and insureds, brokers and outside counsel; viewed as a reliable and technical expert. Provide support and information to underwriters in connection with their evaluation of risk on particular accounts. Provide support to underwriting teams with regard to marketing efforts, claims metrics analysis and trending discussions. Present to underwriting teams on emerging coverage issues. Provide training on coverage and trial reporting to primary and excess teams as well as third-party administrator partners. Provide guidance on process improvements to primary and excess teams. Track and evaluate exposure on a number of significant claims presented in both primary and excess. Track calendared mediations and trials for the Casualty team. Serve as an ambassador for AXIS claims at various industry events through participation in panels and/or discussion groups.

Qualifications: A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. 12+ years of experience acting as an outside monitoring and coverage counsel. Demonstrated ability to work on a team, interact with others, meet deadlines, and successfully perform in a changing work environment. High exposure/complex claim exposure evaluation skills. Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal and collaboration skills. Formal or Informal Management Experience of early career/less experienced claim staff. Demonstrated success working in a hybrid work environment Ability to travel as necessary.
