Compliance Counsel The candidate will assist the Compliance Department in the implementation of the Compliance program. Help oversee compliance activities at SVG locations, including those related to HIPAA Privacy, in accordance with SVG policies and procedures as well as applicable state, federal, and local laws, rules, and regulations. Research and advise on federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations that impact all agencies including HIPAA and TCPA. Provide other legal research as assigned by the VP, General Counsel & Privacy Officer. Conduct contract reviews and drafting of legal documents as assigned by the VP, General Counsel & Privacy Officer. Aid in the development of policies and procedures consistent with established legal principles and requirements. Escalate compliance and privacy concerns to the VP, General Counsel & Privacy Officer and other upper Compliance Management. Assess product, compliance, privacy or operational risks and contribute to risk management strategies. Keep Compliance Management informed of compliance and privacy concerns and the status of remediation activities. Partner with the VP, General Counsel & Privacy Officer and SVG Training Specialists to provide compliance and regulatory training (e.g., TCPA and Privacy) at SVG locations as needed. Perform HIPAA Privacy desk audits and work with the VP, General Counsel & Privacy Officer in resolving any HIPAA issues that occur. Support other business audit requirements as needed. Contribute to the annual Compliance Work Plan. Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations to ensure compliance practices. Other job duties as assigned.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with admittance to at least one State Bar in good standing (Missouri preferred). Law License in at least one state (Missouri preferred). Healthcare Compliance and Privacy Certifications preferred. Should have 5 years of similar or related work experience to the Compliance Counsel position. Thorough understanding and knowledge of HIPAA and TCPA. HIPAA Privacy Officer experience preferred. Prior experience in health insurance compliance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to record detailed information thoroughly and accurately. Ability to work independently and with coworkers and share knowledge as part of a team. Well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to get along well in diverse cultures with diverse personalities whether local or virtual. Ability to establish credibility and be decisive as well as responsive and able to recognize and support the organization's preferences and priorities. Strong attention to detail. Acute listening skills. Excellent legal research skills and self-motivated.
