Assistant General Counsel (Litigation) The candidate will provide expert advice to management concerning laws, rules, and regulations affecting bank matters. Monitor, research, and analyze existing laws, rules, and regulations (and changes thereto) to evaluate and assess their impact on the bank. Oversee, on a day-to-day basis, the bank's litigation matters, including, among other things, the bank's processes for managing the legal aspects of foreclosures, bankruptcies, subpoenas, garnishments, and levies. Direct and supervise outside law firms on specific projects, when appropriate. Draft correspondence, memoranda, court pleadings and other filings, and other legal documents. Work with representatives from various business units to develop, modify, and interpret policies, practices and procedures to conform to legal requirements and to ensure legal compliance. Effectively manage other attorneys within the legal department. Assist as requested with management of the legal department, including departmental budget management. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The candidate should have a law degree from an accredited law school. Admission to at least one State Bar. Should have 7 years of experience as an attorney in a large law firm, regulatory agency, or corporate legal department, including at least five years of litigation experience. Experience with debtor/creditor matters strongly preferred. 2 years of supervisory experience managing other attorneys preferred. Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal documents, including court filings. Ability to effectively present information to top management, the bank's board of directors, and outside parties. High level of expertise in banking and commercial litigation that results in independent work with little direction or oversight required. Ability to synthesize and advise on complex fact and legal topics. Strong writing and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small team. Ability to communicate effectively across multiple channels. High degree of adherence to ethical standards. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentially and sensitivity towards all work-related information.
