Counsel, Data Privacy The candidate will provide legal counsel and guidance on a wide variety of privacy legal and healthcare privacy law matters which arise from the operation of a large, complex, geographically dispersed and technology-driven organization. Provide legal advice and guidance on U.S. privacy regulatory compliance topics to senior leaders, managers and other internal colleagues and clients for the United States and Canada to confirm that current and proposed activities, policies, business practices and transactions comply with relevant data privacy laws and regulations. Carry out the direction and strategy for Chief Privacy Officer and Global Privacy Legal Director, including providing guidance on applicable privacy laws and regulations, implementation of the program, including company policies and processes covering the privacy and security of personally identifiable information in accordance with global, federal and state privacy laws, regulations and standards. Ensure the company's compliance with applicable state and federal privacy and data protection laws, regulations and privacy governance frameworks such as the NIST privacy framework. Lead U.S. and Canada privacy legal compliance initiatives. Candidates with in-house experience in global privacy regulatory compliance framework are strongly encouraged to apply.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctor degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in the United States. Should have 8 years in data privacy law in a private, public, non-profit, government or military environment. Certification from relevant professional organizations, such as the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Working experience in an AmLaw 100 firm and/or Fortune 500 environment in an attorney role is strongly preferred. Significant knowledge of and experience with privacy and data protection laws that relate to the United States and Canada. Possesses knowledge of business processes within diverse industries, including, product development and approval, manufacturing, marketing and selling. Understands public policy and life science industry developments, the legislative and liability implications of business decisions. Advanced understanding of global privacy trends, best practices and legal and regulatory requirements, including CPRA, CCPA, HIPAA and other U.S. state privacy laws. Ability to form solid assumptions and formulate decisions and recommendations from diverse facts and information.
