Privacy and Data Protection Counsel Duties: Support the development and refinement of our privacy and data governance documentation in collaboration with our compliance and risk management functions. Build and maintain scalable and effective processes for providing legal input to the business and standards for strategic initiatives related to data and privacy governance. Provide legal advice to ensure's business initiatives and operations are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, standards/controls, contractual obligations, and industry best practices. Act as the main point of contact for the legal team on incidents involving potential data disclosure. Collaborate with the Information Security, Risk Management and Legal Compliance personnel on incident preparedness, investigation, communication, and remediation. Create and provide guides and training to the business to ensure we have a consistent and clear positions on applicable privacy and data protection laws, regulations, and relevant self-regulatory frameworks. Responsible for tracking, analyzing and communicating the implications of changing U.S. and international privacy and data protection laws and regulations to the company. Educate and advocate for privacy and data protection in cross-functional forums. Lead the work of building, refining, and scaling privacy and data protection compliance processes to deliver best in class privacy and data protection training initiatives across the company, including supporting our customer facing compliance training products. Support and manage various one-off compliance related projects. Qualifications: Bar admission or equivalent and in good standing to practice law in your relevant jurisdiction. CIPP preferred. 5+ years of legal experience supporting and advising businesses on global privacy and data protection related concerns, ideally with both a law firm and/or in-house legal counsel, preferably in the SaaS or technology space. Experience working in or building international privacy and data protection programs and developing related compliance processes, practices and related documentation. Knowledge of global privacy laws, regulations, standards and related regimes including to CCPA, GDPR, and CPRA. Demonstrated expertise in privacy and data issues arising in one or more privacy areas such as HR, security, advertising, B2B and B2C products and sales, third party management or privacy program implementation/management. Ability to serve as a primary privacy and data protection counsel in a growing and acquisitive technology company. Experience handling DPAs and teaming with sales and contract negotiation teams to negotiate and finalize customer agreements. Provide advice and guidance on product and content development. Manage the company's intellectual property portfolio. Ability and strong desire to effectively advise, develop relationships, and work collaboratively across stakeholders and business units. Experience leading with a growth mindset and comfort working in a company experiencing rapid growth and evolution.
