Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property The candidate will be drafting, negotiating, and interpreting technology, software and IP-related agreements and licenses involving multiple HID divisions. Analyzing and mitigating the risks of third-party intellectual property involving multiple HID divisions. Providing advice and support with respect to IP enforcement activity involving multiple HID divisions. Leading intellectual property and other types of litigation and pre-litigation activities involving multiple HID divisions, including working with and managing outside counsel to develop strategies to initiate, defend, resolve and prevent various forms of litigation. Leading commercial and M&A transactions, including IP reviews of potential acquisition and IP portfolio integration involving multiple HID divisions. Identifying and evaluating patentable and strategic inventions from business units. Managing prosecution decisions for a worldwide patent portfolio and coordinating with outside counsel. Developing policies, procedures, and internal processes to optimize the global IP program. Providing legal representation for ASSA ABLOY AB (AAAB), its divisions, and affiliates (including HID) on a wide variety of intellectual property and related matters (see e.g., asterisk-marked duties) via the AAAB Licensing and Litigation Center of Excellence funded by the ASSA ABLOY divisions. Leading a wide range of other intellectual property issues, including copyright, trademark, and trade secret matters. The candidate should have 9 years relevant experience in IP and technology law, including at least 3 years prior practice with a nationally recognized IP firm desired. In-house counsel experience preferred. Strong technical background with an undergraduate degree in Engineering or Computer Science. Other scientific/technical backgrounds will be considered depending upon relevant experience. A Juris Doctorate degree (JD), from a top-rated law school is preferred. Admitted to practice law in at least one state. Registered to practice before the USPTO is highly preferred. Strong organizational skills, maintaining attention to detail on multiple projects simultaneously and adjusting to changing priorities and deadlines. Proactively isolate and prioritize issues to focus on implementing both top-level, strategic solutions as well as day-to-day initiatives. Quickly assimilate and understand complex situations and information, including highly technical information. Application due 2023-03-02.
