Associate Compliance Counsel The candidate assists compliance counsel in building and maintaining compliance management system for servicing operations. Develops and implements operational compliance initiatives and projects for compliance with mortgage servicing laws and regulations. Works with business team members to advise concerning meeting state and/or federal legal requirements while minimizing risk to the organization. Reviews and analyzes internal and external regulatory reports and coordinates with responsible parties to ensure compliance with applicable laws. Monitors and follows up on outstanding compliance issues and ensures timely resolution. Assists compliance analyst in gathering information and loan files for state examinations. Assists in the coordination of regulatory examinations in collaboration with the Compliance Counsel. Research state and federal laws related to mortgage origination and loan servicing. Researches and maintains fee and default matrices on a 50-state basis. Reviews and approves default letter templates. Monitors updates to mortgage servicing laws and disseminates new or pending regulatory changes to operational team and leaders, including a summary and interpretive guidance. Juris Doctor Degree. Minimum of three (3) years mortgage servicing experience in compliance. Demonstrated hands-on compliance experience required. Current project management experience and strong capability in managing multiple project priorities required. Prior experience with interpreting and plying federal, state, and investor regulations required. Knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to work independently and think critically. Knowledge of regulatory compliance guidelines in the mortgage servicing industry. Effective organizational and time management skills. Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules. Ability to work with limited supervision while performing duties.
