Counsel, Employment Law The candidate works with Senior Counsel, Head of Employment Law to conduct internal investigations and to prepare pleadings, discovery responses and other submissions in connection with employment litigation. Interacts with outside counsel representing the Bank in litigation. Coordinates the collection of all discovery documentation, including e-discovery, for all employment litigation matters. Assists human resources representatives to triage employee-initiated complaints and identify issues for investigation. Provides support to human resources throughout all stages of internal investigations. Reviews information subpoenas served on the Bank and assists in preparation and production of employment records where required. Interprets policies and makes recommendations regarding the application of policy. Keeps abreast of changes to workplace laws across the U.S. Assists Sr. Counsel to implement changes to policy or procedure as a result of new or changed laws or regulations. Responsible for tracking all employment litigation and generating a quarterly litigation report for FAS 5 purposes. Reviews and processes legal provider invoices on a monthly basis. Tracks spending and manages litigation budgets. May respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audit and regulatory inquiries. Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.

Qualifications: Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Member in good standing of bar of state in United States in the jurisdiction where the attorney is located. 3-5 years' employment litigation experience as a member of a large employment practice group or boutique employment law firm. Experience providing legal support to financial institutions and sound advice and guidance to business owners and/or representatives, a plus. Strong knowledge of the litigation process, and experience handling pre-trial discovery and motion practice, witness interviews and deposition preparation. Solid working knowledge of current laws impacting the workplace including anti-discrimination statutes, leave laws and disability protections, wage and hour law, and benefits and immigration issues. Ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to new demands in a fast-paced environment. Superior verbal and written communication abilities. Proficient in web-based legal research. Knowledge of basic software applications including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
