Legal Counsel, Risk Management / Energy Services The candidate independently applies advanced legal techniques and analysis problems and methods. Has major matter, term or client responsibilities. May be assigned to serve functional business units or to provide technical legal specialty support. Reviews lower level legal work or assignments. Prepares a variety of complex legal deliverables for larger projects. Performs complex legal research and develops legal recommendations for senior counsel review. Manages collection, assimilation, and management of data. Performs legal duties following division methodology and quality requirements while adhering to budget and schedule. Proactively provides guidance and direction on division legal design guides, standards, systems, and company policies. Assists in developing, maintaining and updating legal standards. Conducts reviews of contracts and related documents. Renders legal assistance and counsel to project managers in connection with business transactions, such as project proposals, joint venture arrangements, and other project-related documents. Handles negotiations as necessary to ensure the business interests and objectives of the firm are clearly identified, adequately protected, and the risk of loss or liability is minimized. Actively seeks to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contact and through interaction and communication with project leadership. Communicates client interests and drivers to team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns. Actively manages assigned claims and litigation matters, including occasional handling of Rank 1 matters (more than $10M in dispute). Leads or participates in development of litigation and claims strategy for assigned matters. Recommends selection of outside counsel. Manages activities of outside counsel on assigned matters, including budgeting and implementation of claim resolution strategy. Interfaces between outside counsel and professionals involved in the dispute as well as internal and external claims consultants and specialists. Provides periodic reports regarding status of dispute to the lead litigation attorney, General Counsel and to management. Provides periodic updates to relevant insurance carriers and recommends appropriate insurance reserves. Drafts or reviews pleadings and discovery utilized in litigation and settlement agreements. Actively involved or manages handling of electronically stored information, including the litigation hold process. Attends settlement conferences / mediations. Approves payment of legal invoices for assigned matters. Serves as a legal specialist to provide consultation and guidance to internal clients in a particular practice area, such as HR, tax, federal regulations or claims. Develops and applies advanced legal concepts and approaches to legal problems. Actively shares knowledge with others, both within and outside division. Typically supports multiple projects on complex legal challenges. Serves as project attorney on domestic or international assignments. May assist in the development and delivery of company wide training. May supervise lower level attorneys. May assist with performance management process.

The candidate should have Law degree. Should be licensed to practice law in at least 1 jurisdiction. Must have 8+ years of experience. Intermediate legal expertise is required. Should have intermediate knowledge of: the engineering/construction industry; competitors; company policies and procedures; quality systems; and risk management techniques (insurance, bonds, contract terms, letters of credit, financial instruments.
